they both involve a mouse. and a mouse having a plan. the poems mouse was planning no staying there all winter but the farmer ruined it and in of mice and men lennie had the mouse and he was going to keep it safe but he liked petting it and he pet it too hard and killed it. so in both the mouth gets harmed
